Why prepare for the postpartum season?
So much energy and attention go into preparing for birth; the nursery, the birth plan, the tiny clothes folded in anticipation. yet so few parents are guided to prepare for what comes after: the tender, transformative weeks that follow. The postpartum season is a sacred threshold, where both baby and parents are newly born. Without preparation, this time can feel overwhelming, depleting and lonely; with foresight and care, it can become deeply restorative and soul-nourishing. This course invites you to prepare not just for the arrival of your baby, but for the unfolding of yourself as a parent with warmth and intention.
What the course will cover
This course offers a gentle, holistic preparation for the postpartum period, rooted in a Waldorf and anthroposophical understanding of early family life.
Together, we will explore how to care for both parent and baby through the different layers of wellbeing, from the physical and practical, to the emotional and relational, and the deeper sense of meaning and connection that surrounds this time.
We will move through:
Creating a sense of safety and calm, understanding the nervous system, and the interconnected needs of parent and baby
Supporting the physical body through rest, sensory protection, and respectful, attuned care
Establishing rhythm, nourishment, and warmth to bring steadiness to daily life
Honouring emotional wellbeing, relationships, and community, and exploring gentle boundaries in the postpartum time
Recognising and celebrating your family’s individuality, with reverence for both the newborn and the parents
The workshop weaves together practical guidance, reflective exercises, and simple, nourishing rituals—offering you both understanding and lived experience to carry into your postpartum journey.
